A Blog is Born

As we were putting our sweet little Benjy to bed tonight, he asked, as he always does, for his daddy and I to "sleep by-if" him. A hybridization of "sleep by" and "sleep with," this is his routine bedtime request, and Justin and I always share a surreptitious smile as one of us cozies up on the carpet next to his mattress. Tonight I found myself trying to remember all the past little cute things that have been so unique about our two oldest kiddos, and I had a sinking feeling that my memory was coming up short. Later, as I was sorting through some long-buried papers in the pantry, I found a relic of my oldest son Eli's now forgotten car logo obsession, which confirmed to me what I have been suspecting for some time-- my memory is shamefully inadequate when it comes to remembering all the cute, funny, mundane, and yet utterly precious things my kids do day in and day out. Thus, this blog was born to capture all those little things before they pass unceremoniously into the locked and dusty catacombs of memory. I also want to keep record of all the activities, traditions, friends, outings, conversations, laughs, and other things that make our days so special.
