Christmas break is officially coming to an end. Eli's school starts back up tomorrow and Justin was back to work yesterday. After Christmas, we had the luxury of having Justin around for a whole week. It was a whole mini-vacation in itself! We went to the Apex swimming pool as a family one day, and the kids got to play in the huge kids area and go down water slides. Another day we took a trip down to the temple where Justin and I took turns watching the kids and going in. That same day, we went to Ikea and picked up some organizing things for the boys' room. We spent another day organizing the boys' closet and putting up shelves for Eli to display his assembled Legos. Since Justin was home to watch the kids, I worked on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. While I was home sleeping, he took the kids to McDonald's playplaces and Jump City, which has trampolines, bouncy pits, giant inflated slides, and other air-padded play equipment. The kids got totally spoiled!
It snowed on Christmas Day and several days afterward. It was pretty frigid with temperatures hovering around zero degrees for over a week. We didn't get outside much until the past few days, when it started to warm up enough to make the prospect of going outside for fun appealing. The kids had fun eating the snow, making snow angels, and just tromping around outside after being cooped up.
Also over break, my Grandma Janie passed away. Unlike my Grandpa John, who passed away in November after a long, slow decline, Grandma was in fine health, so it was unexpected that she should pass away. Our family has been coping with the shock and sadness of her death. We leave tomorrow to fly out to Illinois for her funeral, which is later this week. Although it's not a trip we would have hoped to have to make, it will be good to remember her among family and friends who also knew and loved her.
